19 Weeks - Pink or Blue

We went in for the "20 Week" ultrasound with hopes of finding out if you are going to be an Adelaide or Oliver. During this ultrasound they also look at all your body parts to see if they are the right size and make sure everything looks ok. Before we went in, Preston and I filmed our predictions on the video camera. We still stuck to our original guns, Preston said you are an Adelaide, I said you are an Oliver. We invited my mum to come see the excitement as well.

During the ultrasound they did look at everything. Measuring your bones, looked at all your organs, measuring fluid, etc. Everything looked great with one minor detail. There was something with your heart that made Suzie the Ultrasound Tech take a second glance. The second glance turned into a lot of glances and she called in some specialists. Dr. Reed and Dr. Dixon, perinatologists, came to take a look as well. After a lot of looking their final answer, for the mean time, is that they think you have an atrial septal defect and aortic stenosis. But they said your heart is little right now, only the size of my thumb nail that they cant be completely sure. So the plan is to meet another doctor, Dr. Barber, who is a pediatric cardiologist to check things out in about 2 weeks. They also wanted us to meet with the genetic counselor just for more support.

But there is good news in all of this, I promise. The first one is that your Dad was right and you are a little girl! We couldn't be more excited. The second is that we love you, more then you could know. So Miss Adelaide Ann we need you to keep growing and fighting! We will keep loving you and praying for you.

Here are your latest photos, you have quite the album little one.

18 Weeks - Dr. Moreno

This week was a Dr. Moreno week. We went in for our check up and guess what I gained a pound! We went to check your little heart beat but the machine wasn't in the room so Dr. Moreno surprised us and asked if we wanted to see if you were a boy or girl on the bigger ultrasound next door. We said yes of course! We checked your little heart beat which was beating really strong and it looked great. Then Dr. Moreno went searching for your little parts. She couldn't be sure because you are still pretty little but her guess is that you are a little girl. She told us not to have her prediction be the final one though and to wait and see at our appointment next week. I was quite surprised when she said girl though, for some reason I think you are a little boy. Preston on the other hand claims you are a girl. We will just have to wait and see.

Here are more photos for your collection.

17 Weeks - Moving On Up

This week was very exciting. We felt you move, at 17 weeks and 3 days I felt you move. And then at 17 weeks and 5 days, you were moving so much that Preston was able to feel you move! It was such a neat thing and wish I could feel you every minute of every day. I lay in bed at night waiting for see if you are going to move or kick. We have your appointment at the end of this week with Dr. Moreno. You just keep moving your cute self, all day every day if you really want to.

15 Weeks - The Photos Begin

There aren't very many changes over the last two weeks except that I traded my tiredness with headaches. My much determined stand on not drinking soda while you are growing had to be thrown out when Tylenol just wasn't doing the job. I actually had a pretty bad migraine this week but was able to call Dr. Moreno and she was so kind in giving me some medicine for the "Tylenol and caffeine wont do the job" headaches. Just another shining moment for Dr. Moreno.

We have decided to start taking photos each week to document how much you and I are growing. You are about the size of a naval orange even though we cant quite see you yet. So for the first little while there will be two photos, one of me normal and one where I stick my tummy out as far as I can. One of these days I will stick it out and it wont go back in.

13 Weeks - A Dr. Moreno Visit

It has been 4 weeks since we first saw you and time is sure going quickly. It was time to see Dr. Moreno for our second visit and we sure do like her. We heard your heart beat again and all is well. We asked her lots of questions and a lot about what to expect for our next visit. We told her about my headaches and Dr. Moreno gave us some pointers. We will see her again in 4 weeks and in 5 to 6 weeks from now we can find out if you are a boy or a girl. You just keep on growing healthy and strong and we will see you before you know it.

12 Weeks - UltraScreen Round 2

I went for your UltraScreen test today and crossed my fingers hoping you had grown just enough. And great news you were the perfect size. The ultrasound tech said you looked good and your nuchal fluid looked nice and thin. As we watched you on the screen you were moving everywhere, moving your arms and legs. You even had your hands up by your mouth and you were moving your lips. You made the the ultrasound lady laugh and laugh, which made me laugh which only made it hard for her to keep track of you on the screen. It was a great day and she gave us lots of different photos of you. You sure are getting there, 12 weeks already and we can hardly believe it. I had a little finger poke after the ultrasound so they could look at my blood and hopefully within a week we will have some good results.

11 Weeks - UltraScreen Round 1

We went to the doctors today to see how you were doing and to do a little screening test. After some measuring by the ultrasound tech it turns out you are just a little too small and we will have to wait a couple more weeks and try again. It was great to see you though and you sure have grown even in just two weeks. You are the size of a lime right and the cutest little lime we have seen.

9 Weeks - Dr. Moreno

We went to your first official doctors visit on July 29th and met with a great lady, Dr. Moreno. She answered our questions, told us a little bit about herself and then surprised us with an ultrasound. Dr. Moreno put the ultrasound probe over my stomach and sure enough we were able to see you on the screen. You were measured and your were a whole 1 inch long. Preston was with me and he was so excited to see you. You wiggled your arms and legs, moving all around and I even started to cry. It was the first time that it was all real because we could actually see you. Dr. Moreno said you looked good and even said you were cute. She printed lots of photos for us to share with our parents and for us as well.

8 Weeks...Ultimate Charades

We were up in Burley with Preston's family and thought it would be a good time to tell everyone the good news while we were all together. After going round and round about how we could tell them in an exciting way we decided on a game of Ultimate Charades. After some risque moves on my part everyone got the idea and best of all we have it on video. Everyone was really excited about your little self.

5 Weeks...2 Pink Lines

June 25th was the official day. Two pink lines and a couple tears of joy/anxiety later and it was official we were PREGNANT! 35 weeks to go and hopefully we will see your shining face.
